TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENT

« Go back

Temperature is one of the essential process variables for process control.

The main instruments for measuring temperature are Resistance Thermometers and Thermocouples.

  • Resistance thermometers consist of a metal wire that varies its resistance depending on the temperature. They have a measurement range between -200 and +850 °C.
  • Thermocouples are made of two metallic conductors welded at one end. An electromotive force is generated between the welded and the free ends. The measurement range depends on the pair of materials and it ranges from -200 to +1800 °C.

The sensing element is inserted into the process protected by a Thermowell.
